There is risk involved in Installing, maintaining, repairing, and
modernizing l work of Lifts ( & Elevators) . In order to reduce these risks
and help promote an accident-free ( & Injury-Free ) workplace, It is
necessary to adopt and follow specific safe work practices & methods.
This GEA “Basic Safety Practices” booklet outlines some general and
specific safety practices that MUST be followed at all times.
This booklet has been made for all the people who are involved in the
installation, maintenance, repair, and modernization work for Elevators.
These people have a moral obligation and responsibility to follow these
practices to protect against any risks at work SItes This booklet also
helps in providing guidance to attain the highest level of protection to
everyone working at sites including the contractor’s and subcontractor’s
employees.
It is also the Elevator company's responsibility to identify, understand and
comply with all the codes and laws as applicable in their respective area
or state, or country. This booklet shall also help Elevator Installers or
Technicians or Helpers to learn & adopt safe work practices. It shall be
noted that it is their responsibility to follow the safety practices and for
using the PPE ( protective equipment ) given to them by their company or
contractor.
It may be well understood that Elevator Safety practices are mostly based
upon common sense and many of the safety practices are particularly
important as these can be classified as are best rules.

fully under control or the site is not safe, immediately ask for support from
your supervisor or company or Management or customer as required.
